Re: Granddaughter wants a classical guitar
Thanks Peter
Herman
I'll get a photo up tomorrow. It's really not bad. You just work a really sharp chisel close to the side but push slightly away from the side as you carve. The little bit left will just peel away from the side. Of course one has to pay attention but not as hard as it seems.

Well it's not tomorrow but I finally started back on the neck. It is mostly done now but here is the heel being carved.
Herman not as scary as it might seem.

Got to use sharp chisels!
The neck is mostly done now and the frets are in filed flush to the fretboard and beveled at about 25 degrees.
Now on to the bridge!

Re: Granddaughter wants a classical guitar
my bridge blank is one of about 4 that I roughed out a number of years ago when I made my first classical guitar.
Slots are cut on the table saw to accommodate the bone pieces glued in place for the tie block, a saddle slot and a clearance cut in front of the tie block.
So I already had one prepared in Indian rosewood.
I cut the bone from a 3/32" bone saddle blank for the tie block and CA glued them on. Then I started filing down one end shaping the wing. Takes some time with a coarse rasp but it's quiet and satisfying work.
One wing is done (not shown) and I started on the other side.
