KMG template dimension question

Post by peter havriluk » Tue Oct 20, 2020 9:47 am

It's hard to ask Ken a question these days, so maybe someone can speak up. I bought a template from Ken for his take on a 'Norman Blake' version of a guitar and I'm using it as a reference for my current project. Ken gave rim heights at both ends, and I have no idea if these heights were the rim proper or the finished (rim + top + back) body heights. The difference is a quarter-inch, not a small thing.

There may be a convention I don't know that could answer this, but I don't know what it is and I'm lost at the moment.

Thanks, everybody.

No idea, but you might compare it with the Martin 000-28G size if that is the basis of the Norman Blake version that Ken sold. I know the main difference in the Martin "Norman Blake" was changing it to a short scale 12 fret body join.

I found generally on most plans the dimensions include the top and back.

Thanks, John. I think I knew I was asking a question whose answer would very likely be convention and not something quotable.
