Ah, nice. You can't tell it's laminated from the outside, at least not from the picture. I might try something similar in my next build. I think it might look good (or maybe not?) to use a black/white/black veneer laminate to match the purfling I use.Tim Benware wrote:It has a laminate patch I made up glued to the inside. It's a B/W laminate approx .055" thick.Jay McClellan wrote:Ah, nice. You can't tell it's laminated from the outside, at least not from the picture. I might try something similar in my next build. Niiiiice!!! I'm a fan of soundports for some time. Around here I see more and more of them. Next to the advantages soundwise, it gives an extra opportunity to stand out artisticly. You do well here.

Re: Mt latest and first 00
How do you determine the size of the sound port? Is there a guideline to follow in terms of sound port area vs. body volume? Or do you calculate the size using the LAR algorithm?

I don't get too technical. In theory the box is nothing more than an air pump, similar to a speaker enclosure and the same sound principles apply. I try to keep it in the 1.5" to 2" range centered between the kerfing so that it LAR:) This one is about 2" long and 1.75" at it widest.
