Beautiful job and a very nice sound indeed.
Did you make up the moonspruce? I've heard of stranger things, I guess, but sure can't understand how the wood of a 40 year old tree can be affected by the time of year/month it is harvested. That being said, I too would have tried it. :-)

No Dave, although we have people here who talk to trees, I did not make this up.

Herman -- it is a lovely instrument great job!
The Moon wood thing is not new it goes back to myth as to when trees that will be burned should be cut as to have less water and thus burn longer and easier.
Problem is science does not support any of it -- and most importantly if there were actually more or less water in any part of the tree it would be is the sapwood, its job is to draw water and minerals -- the heartwood is dead, when processing lumber for sound boards the sapwood is whacked off since it will have different coloration.

Re: Spruce/Padouk Jumbo (with sound)
Good to know that it will burn easy. Maybe I'll have to investigate which guitar of mine burns longer.
Re: Spruce/Padouk Jumbo (with sound)
Well if you decide to do that -- I think it's important that you send it to me to perform the test -- of course I'll supply some official looking documentation.
Kidding aside – your work is superb and you definitely have created some priceless heirlooms.

Beautiful instrument Herrmann! I love using Padauk, and yours is a stunning one.
So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I'd try it too.

Thanks Ken.
Yes the Padouk is great to work with. It planes, scrapes and sand easy.
Looks fabulous under a finish.
