Neck Block off location

Post by Chuck 1945 » Mon Nov 19, 2012 1:07 pm

I am building a Dreadnaught out of cherry and when I started to attach the dovetail neck I found that my neck block was not centered on the top, it is off about 3/16" or so. Is there anything I can do to help this problem or just trask it and start on another one.
Thanks

Welcome Chuck,

Pictures would be helpful --- off 3/16" in what regard --center, up, down, angle?

How does the neck fit otherwise? Is it off center along the length of the center line (moved over 3/16") or does the neck joint throw the finger-board center line off center angled toward the bridge location?

You can even use cell phone pictures. Actually without seeing the situation and how things fit and line up -- anything said here is just a guess.

Exaggerated pic - but is the neck moved over like the red, or angled like the blue?

I am very new to this forum thing so forgive me if I don't get the right person answered. The person who sent the diagram of the guitar, thanks and the problem is the same as the red rectangle. I worked on it this afternoon and I moved the neck over and filled the void in the other side, hope it works, if not I guess it was fire wood before i started. Thanks again.
