Drill press fence and angles - my weak spot

See hi-tech gigaflop-intensive graphic attached.
It's "funny" how simple things can trip "us" up :-) In other words, visualization is not my thing when it comes to angles and such.
I know when the answer comes it will be a "Duh" moment for me. So be it!
I used a lot of " " in this post, hope I don't run out...

Like a taper jib for a table saw you need to actually move the piece past the bit at an angle. The fence is merely the locator ---- so cut a piece of scrap the same angle as the line you drew, flip it over tape it to your blank. Now the blank will ride along the fence as if the line on your blank was parallel.

Ok, maybe by doing it I will understand. How I can be so stunningly brilliant in almost everything else and suck at this is beyond me. :-)
