Where to get this: .25" tall BW purfling...

Post by darren » Thu Mar 08, 2012 10:41 pm

Subject says it all. I just got some and it is Black and Maple not Black and White.

I need it tall enough to completely cover the inside of my binding, which is tortoise style, and I want the white visible in the 'curls'. Almost all the pieces for this next project are together, but all my other purfs are bright white not maple... doh!

Anybody seen this around?

I have not seen the 1/4 inch fiber white purflings, but I have made some out of white fiber veneer sheets I got from LMI. You can cut it with a very sharp knife.

Good idea John, that may be what I have to do. What glue do you think will be best to keep the fiber flexible?

Gurian is a good source for any style of binding or purfling. They do have a minimum order and you have to purchase the whole layup. Perhaps you could share the purchase.
How much do you need? I recently purchased some from them. Email me at ronbelanger@sympatico.ca

Your in Seattle and that is where Gurian is I believe. If not Seattle, then somewhere close.

John is in Seattle, not me :) I need enough to do 2 bodies, so only 8 30" strips. I have the B and W fiber so I'll try gluing up a few strips, if it fails miserably we'll be in touch. Thanks
