CA - adherence properties

Post by Dave Bagwill » Fri Dec 16, 2011 2:11 pm

I'm looking for information on materials that CA will NOT adhere to. Clear packing tape seems to be one; I'm more interested in a machinable material that might be useful in a jig I am contemplating.

Any info would be most welcome.
Thanks

I use Teflon sheets from McMaster Carr but its not cheap. Most of the time I cover the contact surface with clear packaging tape like you mentioned.

Is Teflon difficult to cut - if I had a teflon rod, 1 5/8" in diameter, would my bandsaw have any difficulty cutting it into 1/4" rounds?

Well I don't know -- I have cut it with a down spiral router bit with no problem. Don't know about blanks that thick? I don't see why not.

Are we talking about the clear tape or the one with reinforcement?

The clear 2" wide heavy duty packaging tape -- no reinforcement filament.
