Troubles with kerfing for the back upper bout

Post by garvan » Fri Aug 07, 2015 1:34 pm

Hi, I am doing the success kit, and this is my first build. The kerfing for the upper back bout had gaps on the inner side, so after a week or so of mulling should I try to glue it down with CYA, I decided to remove it and try again. This was my first time doing a detachment of glued parts, but the removal went very smoothly.

Before I try this again, I figured I should get some advice :).

I am trying to keep the kerfing evenly proud on the back, at around 1/16 inch (that measurement is just a guess from photos of the process on the internet). I can't figure out how to get the kerfing to bend to follow the back upper bout profile. Do I break it into smaller pieces? Do I cut slits in kerfing to allow it to bend to follow the profile? Am I just not trying hard enough to get the wood to cooperate?
