My second one, a 00-14 fret KMG kit, is done!

Post by John J » Sun Jul 05, 2015 6:59 pm

Finished up this little beauty yesterday morning. Strung her up with some Martin Retro strings and she played beautifully with almost no adjustment. Only had to lower the saddle a bit. I do enjoy the size of this one. Perfect for sittin' back and doing a little pickin'. Thanks to Ken and his well put together kit. Through these two kits from Ken I have gained so much confidence. There's no looking back now.

The particulars:

Maple sides
Maple back with rosewood stripe
Sitka spruce top
Herringbone purfling and rosette
East Indian rosewood bindings
East Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge
Maple neck laminated with rosewood stripe
Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer
Brazilian rosewood tail wedge and heel cap
Maple inlay and maple dots

Finish is Tru Oil

Thanks again to Ken and all on the forum.

Beautiful, and really nicely made. I love the dark binding on it and the curly-ness of the maple is outstanding.

The subtlety of the maple dots is really classy - an inspiring build!

All looks tight and snug. Well done, John! Make us a sample if you can. We would love that.
