Till now I have a concave sanding block to contour a curved tailblock. It works, but is not super precise. The edges tend to be too rounded if one is too rough on the job. Does anyone have an alternative way to do it?

Contouring tailblock
Re: Contouring tailblock
The first one I tried to radius I completely ruined it. So the next one I skipped this step and it actually worked out ok on a dreadnaught. And it sits on the floor and does not fall. I probly should be scolded for this but it seems fine. It is not much of a radius on the dred

I use the outside mold, put some sticky backed sandpaper on the appropriate area and rub the tailblock on it, up and down, until it matches.

Re: Contouring tailblock
I use my belt sander oh so lightly and using the mold as a guide. I have struggled, The martin's are flattish but a few of my patterns have a good arc. I have also used a template as a guide. Get close with a couple of swipes with a plane and check the fit using the molds.

I too have an issue about rounding those edges, making the contour on the disc sander. I think I'll try it in the mold next time.
