clamp extension

Post by Dave Bagwill » Sun Nov 16, 2014 4:44 pm

I wanted more cam clamps but decided I'd try an experiment, and it worked well. Plenty of clamping force, scrap hardwood, easy to replace. You can slip one on top and on the bottom if you like, but it's kind of handy just to have the top arm extended too.
Quick and dirty for the experiment, I'll make a set that looks better, at least :-)

It works well - just slip the extensions on a cheap HF clamp (I got a dozen of them last year for a couple bucks each), do your clamping, slide them off for next time.

Another advantage is that you can use only the top extension, so there are not competing bottom extensions getting in each other's way. I hate when they do that; before you know it, a fight breaks out between the bottom extensions, there's shoving and jostling, harsh words are spoken, and when you come back when the glue is dried, you find out that two or three clamps are on the ground in protest, and you have to re-glue. Dangit.
