endpin substitution

Post by peter havriluk » Tue Dec 17, 2013 11:33 pm

I've gotten to wondering what's wrong with using a strap pin in the endpin position? At first look, it seems as if doing so would avoid the potential problem of splitting the sides and end block if a conventional endpin-fitted guitar landed on the endpin when the instrument is dropped. Seems like a good place for a threaded fastener.

Thanks, folks.

You can get strap buttons from a variety of places in both wood and metal. They are easy to install. Basically the same button one would use the heel can be used on the end.
