How to remove this?

Pull off the collet? I have removed the screw, inside the jaws, that hold the collet on the quill, but I cannot get it to budge. Worried about bending the quill, of course.
Ideas?

Maybe its threaded? That's the way hand drills work.

If its tapered you need a wedge tool --- if its threaded (I guess it not) This shows both

I don't recall ever seeing a taper press fit check with a set screw.

The screw is inside the jaws, straight up into the chuck.
The Ehow guy showed a piece of hardwood and a hammer. I tried it and it knocked right off.
Thanks.
I used to call that technique 'percussive maintenance' when certain computers were acting up - a good whack worked better than the IT guys...

So it turns out it had a screw and was press fit?

Press fit, then screwed.
