Looking good jJohn. That 22 gram should do it. My normal ebony bridges weigh also about 30-35 gram. Now I'll try Wengé, see what that does. Nice word though.. "ebonize".

That is pretty cool. I think I'd like to keep the walnut look though.
I have a beautiful piece of claro walnut that I've been saving for a couple of bridges, probably will use it on my crossover.
John, can you ebonize any wood with that solution?

It works with wood with enough tannins to chemically react (walnut and oak for sure). I read with other wood you could soak the wood in tree bark tea or even black tea to get tannis into the wood fibers and then try the solution. Walnut may have been OK for this guitar, but then I would not have had the opportunity to play with ebonizing.

I mix the shellac with it and generally use it instead of DA.
