It looks like an infrared heater. An infrared heater may be perfect for using hide glue. The heater heats the surfaces that the infrared rays hit. Ideally you but aimed on the surface to which you are gluing. You would have a touch more open time, without overheating your shop.

I live just down the road from Ken, and I guarantee that the transition to cold weather here has been just as shocking as ever. My only question is how much does that electric heater cost to run?

I have that same quartz radiant heater and use it in my garage when I need to do some work with my bandsaw or table saw out there. Looks like our energy prices are fairly similar to Michigan's. The cost for the 1500W setting would be about 11-13 cents/hour.

I figure it's pretty economical for my space and when I can be in the shop. I'd hang two, but I don't have the amps available, it is just a 20 amp circut in my two car garage.
