Well it just shows to go ya - you never know what your next mistake will be and what it'll take to correct it. I was cutting the binding channel and made 4 practice cuts in scrap to be sure I had the measurements I needed. Yeah, good to go - NOT. Somehow I dialed the depth up wrong and was at .270 instead of .250. Oh well, this git box is getting EIR bindings now instead of the dark brown tortoise I intended:)

EDIT: I did go back and check my practice cuts to se if I missed something and they were good. Go figure.

A bummer Tim but one that is easily recovered, right.
I have that fear of my cuts not being what they were on the test board, so I do about 1/2" off the neck mortise and stop to check my cut with a piece of my binding scheme. If it looks okay I go ahead. If I'm off this area gets covered with the neck cheeks and I can make an adjustment and try it on the other side.

I did that only this time I came out just past that point (another stinkin' mistake, thanks for reminding me Kevin:))

EDIT: The good news is the channels came out nice and clean.

The rosewood binding will look good on there.

Too bad you can't go with the dark brown tortoise though.

Your guitar is a beauty. Your work is excellent.

Thanks George.

Yeah Kevin, zero touch up on this one. This is only the second guitar I've done with this bit so it's still very sharp. Whiteside 1/8" down cut spiral (RD1600).

EDIT: FYI, it is actually a 1/4" down cut spiral RD2100, the other I got for template routing.

Nice looking channels fo sho. Makes me want to try a down cut bit.
Excellent work as always Tim. I need to buy one of those benches that you turned into a troji. I know it will make some tasks much, much easier than using my one-of-a-kind knee clamp with a towel on the floor to prevent scratches!
