Sorry Ken, my question is why did you put the blanket on the outside of the pipe with a sleeve instead of inside the pipe?

Heat blankets require complete surface contact so that the heat generated continually dissipates, otherwise they will burn themselves up in a few minutes.

Was just about to order the 4"x6" 10 watt blanket - then saw a 10 week waiting period. This was from the Omega website.
Are there other sources that might have something in stock? and would the 5 watt work as well?

I saw one on eBay for about $35 or so I am going to get one of those.

Here's the control box for the blanket works fine for a 36x6 as well. Simple timer/dimmer/outlet/night light for the pilot. I bought an oven thermometer off amazon for about $6 -- works great, clamp it next to the bending tube/pipe. BTW 57 degrees is the temp in the shop, pretty cool all winter long.
