Slotting some fretboards. Since everything was out four were slotted, two 24.5" and two 24.75" scale.
Here's the setup.

Shaping the fretboard surface to a 20' radius. I start on the thickness drum sander with a jig with one edge raised with a glued on strip about 3/16" high covered with 80 grit sandpaper to keep the fretboard from sliding off. Sorry no pics of that process.

.
Then after cutting the taper on the fretboard, I sand it with the 20' block until all pencil marks on the fretboard are sanded off. I cheat by using a pneumatic inline sander that I've had for 50 years since building waterbed frames a long time ago.

now that is slick. never thought of attaching the radius block to a sander. I've got an old Rodac straight line sander I could try that with. Actually I think I have a smaller but it has a wide pad on it. I think it's German made from the 80's

What kind of glue do you use for gluing the BMB purfling to the binding Carl?

Thin CA. I used to use TB3 but Kevin pointed out the CA worked just as well in a shorter period of time.

I also was thinking TB3, but if CA works for you then that’s what I’ll use.
Thanks.

My trick is Titebond Ultimate 3. Never looses while bending.
