10th build, Rosewood&Spruce 000

Post by NeilG495 » Sat Feb 28, 2026 10:37 am

Just put the strings on my 10th build - Indian Rosewood & Spruce 000, braces are 1/4” scalloped and the soundboard was thinned around the bottom edge of the lower bout. Early days but it feels quite lively already with a decent bass for a small bodied guitar.

I’m not much of player but this gives an idea of the tone:

Excellent Neil,
That baby rings! I like those open tunings and here it really brings out the guitar.
Very promising for the future.
Well done.

Thank you Herman, I am pleased with how this one turned out, always a nervous time when the strings go on for the first time. Open tunings do seem to suit smaller bodied guitars, I tend to favour DADGAD but I recently came across this Orkney tuning (CGDGCD), I’m enjoying playing around with it.

Thanks Peter, well into the next build already, just wondering what to do different to get more improvement - loving the challenge though.
