I think showing is good. I would go with the Gibsonish bridge over the holes.

What would be the result of using a short-scale fingerboard and bring the bridge forward? Yes, the neck will need to get a new fingerboard, but the body and bridge will look absolutely ordinary.

Then you need a new neck too, otherwise the 12th or 14th fret will not be on the edge of the body.
And second, the bridge will not be on a proper position on the X-braces anymore.

My bad. I hadn't considered the location of the 14th fret and the implications of that on the neck. Oops.

I am going with the Gibson style bridge. I was able to re lacquer the top with a dry day last week. Giving it a week for the finish to shrink up before sanding and gluing the bridge on. It actually looks nice. Thanks for the input friends. I will post a final pic as well as the redwood topped one.

The results turned out nice. Also the redwood topped twin.
