sources for colored purfling

Post by peter havriluk » Sat Sep 14, 2019 9:02 pm

I can buy all I want of white or black purfling. Red, blue, yellow, green... S-M and LMI never heard of such. Anybody know where this stuff can be found? I'm waiting on a delivery from China for some black/red, but it's a lifetime supply.

Thanks!

Pete,
LMI has dyed wood purfling sheets you can buy and cut the narrow strips from. I know they have red cause I've purchased it. I think they also have green, purple, yellow.
but I have not looked recently. But the red I got that way....36" long x like 8 or 10" wide, and something like .020" thick

Kevin, I missed finding the colored sheets at LMI. What I found at LMI was 1/4" wide stuff, which I used in combination with a 'core' of maple veneer to make up a fingerboard lamination. What you mentioned is what I was looking for. I'll gaze again.

Thanks!
