I understand that it getting difficult to get East Indian Rosewood sets, is that true? -- how much are they going for?

Ken, I was looking at some EIR at the recent Santa Barbara Acoustic Instrument Celebration. California Luthier Supplies had some very nice sets for between $80 and $100 on hand. I would/should have bought more but I already have about 6 sets awaiting. Also I live about an hour away from his shop. His website isn't very good though and doesn't seem to reflect what I was seeing at the show or what I have seen at his shop.

Brian Burns just released some nicely done videos on his gits, featuring an excellent player by the name of Daniel Roest. High quality HD video, high quality sound, high quality commentary, and high quality playing. Of interest to this discussion is his statement that EIR is readily available and appears to be a sustainable resource that he expects to remain readily available. He uses BRZ for B&S only if a customer supplies it; but he does use BRZ for bridges. He has also switched from ebony fingerboards to EIR, which he thinks has a sonic advantage. I think I'll ask him how he copes with all the new restrictions on BRZ. Just one splinter of BRZ on an instrument appears to invoke a barrage of governmental muscle, both here and abroad. I have quite a bit of it in my stash and wonder what to do with it. Don't want to go to jail over the difference between BRZ and EIR.
