I have finally finished my 000 from KMG. It has far exceeded my expectations. It has been a fulfilling couple of days. I found my "lost" 40 year old kit and I couldn't stop grinning. Then I strung up his beauty and heard her for the first time. Well the first time wasn't so great. But once I finished the saddle and set the action I couldn't put it down. I heard talk about the satisfaction from this and everyone couldn't be more right. I can't wait for the next one (everybody said this would be addicting).
I want to thank Ken for his rapid and spot on advice. His kits really do lead to success. Also I would like to thank all the people who commented and offered up their experience and insight. This is truly a community.

John, that is a really fine job you've done there. Very pleasing aesthetically, I really like the sheen of the finish, it brings out the woodiness so well. The inlay is well done - it's something I have not yet tried! - and all in all it is very pleasing just to look at.
I look forward to you next efforts!

Congratulations John! Excellent work and a classical on the way as well. Are you related to the North Dakota Joyce-es?
Re: My first is done!
Dave - the headstock logo I did after I had it finished and was having absolutely no luck with a water-slide decal (of the same logo). It just didn't look good. So plan B I cut it from some abalone pieces I had. the routing is always a little nerve wracking.
John - No relations in ND that I'm aware of. My dads folk settled in southern Minnesota. The instructions from my "lost" kit said classical, but he tuners, and bridge are steel string. I just have to decide what shape. I've already ordered my next kit from Ken - its a 00 14 fret in curly maple.
