Re: A EIR Dred in the D45 tradition
Almost there..........
I have a little fit issue at the neck/body join on one side right at the binding and fretboard extension..a little gap to try and tighten up. The finish came out pretty good. Always some little things show up, but overall I'm pretty pleased.
Still have the machines to install, then I can work on the nut and saddle and get some strings on it, probably this Sat.

Wow! That is both glossy and awesomely made. Congrats on the workmanship Kevin!

So sparkly!!
It looks great Kevin. I know on my first guitar that I used too much lacquer. I didn't pore fill because I was lazy. I just kept brushing on more coats, very thick, heavy coats, and sanded back. I think I did 12 full coats on the whole thing which pretty much doubled the weight of the box! lol
Now I use about 4 cans on the box when using rattle cans, and only 6-7 coats when brushing. 5 on the sound board. I still have to do some drop filling, but my pore filling has improved greatly.
I think you did an outstanding job on the finish with this one.

I REALLY like the abalone purfling. For the low cost of this abalone, I'd like to do use it on more guitars.
I finished polishing the neck, checked the alignment and set, and the angle is spot on, so I'm all ready to install the tuners and get some strings on this one tomorrow!!
