Acoustic Guitar Construction

Is there any reason not to or problems I might run into if I install the frets on the extension before I glue the dovetail? I have a brace repair jack I can use to stabilize the top but it seems like it would be easier to install all the frets while the fretboard is off the guitar.

You'll find out how Martin does it at about 2:45 into the video -- also take note of the comment at the beginning about rim sanding --- flat on the top slightly contoured on the back
