Yeah. I'm going to re-fret his D-18. I played yours, it sounds better in person and it was the first time he heard it played by someone other than him. He really likes it (me too). After playing yours and a couple of mine I'm not sure he'll ever buy another "name" brand. It's loud, wasn't sure if the sound port had anything to do with that of not. We spent about an hour and a half talking about "thangs."

Edit: I forgot to mention, I was impressed with the finish especially considering you brushed it on. Must have been a lot of work to level it.

That guitar is pretty loud. I am also not sure if the port is the reason, but it is loud. I'm glad you got to play it and critique it. It's nice to hear other people's opinions of my work, because I think pretty highly of it, but I am biased for sure.
Leveling a brushed finish takes a while, but as you have seen, it can be done quite successfully. That guitar has a BIG neck, but I like big necks. David said he liked it as well.

Yes, the neck reminded me of some of the old Kays and Stratatones I've seen from the late 40's and 50's. I like a little smaller neck but that is a personal preference and certainly doesn't take anything away from the guitar and it didn't make it unplayable for me. Actually when I went back and played his D-18 I had to readjust because I kept fretting in the wrong spot so it only took that long to adjust to it.

I hear ya. Some guys don't like big necks, some guys do. It's not hard for me to adjust, just a few chords and I'm good.
