Oops, mistake!

This time I thought it was a good idea to try out an extended neckblock. With a massive part from block to upper face brace.
All went well up to the 28" sanding of the rims and blocks. I forgot that the part where the fingerboard is attached to the top should be flat. The neckblock and extension kept the concave form of the sanding. I glue the top to it and guess what? The area stay curved like my bold head. Ugggely! Look and shiver:
So what to do?
-Sanding it flat? The top would be 1mm/0.04" thick left. Hmm, not much for a stressed area.
-Taking the top off? Grrr, don't like that either. Lots of work.
-Chisel the extension off? I don't have the back on yet. So this one is is the most appealing option to me now.
Other visions?
