Thanks Dave the video was well done, I like your application process to acheive an even layer each coat. It reminds me a bunch of French polishing.

What is your surface preperation? As opposed to lacquer this varnish does not burn in so it is important that each layer stays intact. Any high spots could be sanded though when leveling the surface between coats or pools might form in low spots.

I would sand all the way up to 600 grit when preparing for varnish. I only sand to 220 when spraying lacquer.

I will be interested how the no pore fill works out. I thought that thick tru-oil does not really harden. I would be worried that some months from now the pores will shrink back causing dimples.

I sand to at least 800; I usually go to 2K or so since there is no adhesion problem with the TO. Kinkade takes it all the way to 14K, using micro-mesh, before application. I don't see the need for that but, since he has thrown down the gauntlet, I suppose I'll pick up the gauntlet, with relish, and try it on my next project. :-)

As to dimples, I've got to thank you for adding to my list of worries! :-) Just kidding - I'll keep an eye on it.
