Get this book and build from his plan -- you will not be sorry, it is simply outstanding!

The 1937 Hauser plan is also good (we sell the mold for that one) but frankly there is too much unnecessary detail on the plan.

The 43 Hauser plan, by Jeff Elliott available from the Guild of American Luthiers is also a good plan. The body shape is close enough to the 37 that you can use a 37 mold. Either plan is OK but I like the 43 and the way Jeff drew it.

The GAL also has the 37 plan as originally drawn by Brune for less than the packaged plan and CD available. Although the CD with Segovia playing the 37 is a good CD.

Before I built my KMG J-185 I took a guitar building course that was sponsored by Lee Valey Tools. The course was only $50.00 and it included the book "Classical Guitar Making" (a modern approach to traditional design) by John S. Bogdanovitch. This is also an outstanding book with magnificent photos that covers practically everything from shop setup to finishing of a guitar. I'd highly recommend this book.
