Is this what the future has in store?

I would suggest, that as the "back yard mechanic" cannot keep up with the technological advancements of the auto industry. -- As taking place with violins and cellos ---- the design of performance level traveling pro guitars is going to be redefined and they will be constructed much like these carbon fiber instruments. Sorta makes conversations about wood selections a moot point $.02

I don't know anything about how a cello is supposed to sound or a good one versus a bad one, but I do know that cello players look like they have some sort of medical condition the way they shake their heads when they play.

Interesting. I would like to play one to get a real feel for it.

I think Stradavarius is turning over in his grave.

The site Ken referred us to states that the instruments are 'handcrafted' - guess I'll have to look into that and see what that is all about.
I think the wooden instrument is here to stay. There are benefits for road warriors in having a bullet proof/beer proof/any sort of funky stuff-proof CF guitar, of course.

Perhaps a "market within a market"?

I don't want the point of this post to get lost -- you must read the reviews.

Some of the established masters have said -- I'll point out one in particular

"you would have to add three zeros to the cost of the Lewis and Clark, to purchase a traditional violin that sounds as good"

That's what I'm talking about.
