New Steve Baughman instructional DVD

Post by Dave Bagwill » Wed Dec 21, 2011 1:04 am

I bought a copy of Steve's "The Power of the Claw" - 70 minute instructional DVD.

It's got me really excited to try what is to me a new method. Basically it is a frailing/clawhammer approach for steel string guitar. It is amazing what the method can accomplish building on a fairly simply foundation.
He's a personable guy and a formidable talent; the dvd is easily navigable, the sound and camera quality is very good, and he is a great teacher.

Go here for a 10 minute demo: (btw, the dvd is WAY better in quality, scenery and all other aspects than the youtube demo)

I don't know what guitar he is playing but it looks a LOT like the cutaway Ditson I've been blogging!

Where did you get your DVD Dave? I used to play 5 string banjo when I was a kid of 18-20 did a little frailing and Claw, but more Scruggs style and I'm interested in seeing this DVD and getting a better handle on his style and approach...thanks,
Ray :)

Hi, All,

I read this thread, checked out the 10-minute demo, and ordered right away. I was thinking this was a simple, fun and really useful technique. Until I started trying to really do it. I have been following the demo while I wait for the DVD to come. It is gonna take some time for the "bum diddy" thing to work it's way into muscle memory!

Anyhoo, thanks for the heads up. This is going to be a good thing, this claw power. If anybody starts to have good results I would love to hear a little of your playing!

-Mark
