Does a Sinker Redwood top need pore filling?

Depends on the gloss level you want -- Taylor for one pore fills the sound boards on all its all hard wood models Koa, Walnut, Mahogany. So I'd say if you can't sand or scrap it glass smooth it needs filler. Of course Redwood is a softwood.
