I used 3 applications of zpoxy on the back and sides. You can see from the first photo that the pores aren't yet filled after one coat.

Nice, Dave. How many coats did it finally take? any problems? Hints?

My biggest problem was a lack of confidence in knowing how to do it first of all, so advice from Tony and others here sure helped. I tried using a squeegee (as seen on youtube) as well as a credit card, and I think I prefer the card for smearing around the goo. I thought I used 3 coats, although now that you ask, and I thought more about it, I'm pretty sure it was four. I didn't quite know when to quit, and another coat definitely didn't cause any harm. My final coat was thinned a little with denatured alcohol. Sanding it back with 320 grit sandpaper resulted in a nice smooth surface.

Nice result, I always use a single edged razor blade to do my Zpoxy pore fill, I think the hard edges of the blade actually help to fully fill the voids and I usually get away with just two coats.

I did try the credit card as a squeegee once, but wasn't impressed with the results, maybe the bend-ability of the card across its width didn't help and caused me to have to do a lot of sanding.

Thats looks great!! Very nicely done. Now the only pores you will have to fill are the really annoying ones that pop up after you have a couple of coats of finish on it!!
I hate those pores!!
