Are there any standard dimensions for the tail wedge?

No, if you look around you will see many different tail wedge shapes/tapers. Tapers going from top to bottom and visa versa.
I think it really boils down to aesthetics and sometimes maybe disguising a bad joint or bad book match. If you can achieve a good joint and book match, then it also looks great without a wedge - see the uke, second picture down.
Here are a few of mine.

Nice work Bob!
Did you see my thread about building for drop/open tunings? Any input?
Thanks.

Martin's and the copies generally have a wedge that tapers from 3/4" to about 3/8" -- I would point out however, that this is an "Osgood" plus the world has enough Martin copies already.

There are lots of things you can do. This shape has stuck with me lately, though it is not nearly as easy to execute as a wedge. Get creative and come up with one that fits your style!

Thanks to all for the feedback. I will start thinking of something simple but distinct for my first attempt.
