Koa score

Post by TonyinNYC » Fri Mar 30, 2012 10:09 pm

A few weeks ago I was perusing eBay and I came across an auction for some Koa billets. I took a shot and placed a bid and ende dup winning the wood. It is not the curliest wood I have seen, but it certainly is not plain grained stuff either. I have become friendly with a member of another forum who offered to slice up the wood for me because I can not. Without further ado, here is a pic or three of the wood. I might be offering some of it up for sale since I really dont need 5 sets of it. It has some issues, like a knot that shows up in two of the backs, and as such, some of this wood will be better for ukuleles versus guitars, but as I get into it, I will number it and take pics of the sets, but for now, here is a teaser....

That's all for now!

Very nice Tony. I could possibly be persuaded to give you $5 or so for a set.....

In all honesty, I built an OM with Koa binding....could tell on the spot I could easily become addicted to that wood. I love the look of the Curly Mango, but this just is ever so much more sexy, harder, and well, I should reign myself in. Count me as interested, however.
So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I'd try it too.
