Acoustic Guitar Construction

Hi,

I would like to do a sound port on my current build but I didn't plan it so there is no reinforcement on the side for it. Is it a bad idea or is there another way to reinforce it?

Dominic,

In the past I did it several ways. During the building and on completed guitars. Also with and without reinforcing. They all are still intact over the years, so I don't worry about it anymore.
Delicate guitars are not made for coffee table treatment.
