Violin number 3 has begun!

I got started yesterday on my 3rd violin.
This one is for grand daughter #3 who is currently 8 years old and is learning to play the violin.

This violin will be traditional woods (flame maple and spruce) and my goal is to work more precise and better follow standards in plate thicknesses and weights.
I'm in no hurry with this one but it will be my main project this spring.

The neck block is sized and marked ready for some stock removal.
The top and back plates are joined and sanded flat ready for marking the profiles.

The ribs are thicknesses and trimmed to height.
The mold has inside blocks of spruce tack glued in place

John
It is getting easier. I started this 3rd one right away while some things were fresh on the mind.

It is a fun project
You should give it a go!!!

Herman I've thought about trying to learn a little so I can at least test things out but haven't started yet. I'm kind of old to learn a new trick. Ha ha
