Adding purfling to bent bindings

I was asked how I would go about this, and I don't know.
So: if bindings are already bent, but the builder wants to attach purfling to the bottom of the binding, how could that be done?
Any ideas?

I see no way of cleanly gluing a thin purfling to a bent binding. I have not done this, but I was taught that you install the bindings with a flexible spacer instead of the purfling, pull the spacing and work the binding into the slot left after pulling the spacer.
An idea is to bend something much wider than a purfling; edge glue it to the bending and then slice most of it away leaving a purfling.
Myself if I was in than situation, I would glue the purfling on a straight binding and save the wrongly made one for another project. Or I would decide against having the purfling line.

I am about to do this on my current build. OM with an arm bevel.
I think I cut the channels first, then pin the purfling down to the bottom of the slot with needle pins and fix them with a tiny bit of CA glue.
After installing the binding I will flood the things with CA.
Ah well, that is the plan.

That sounds like a good plan! Let me know how that works out.

I've used the spline sold by one of the parts/tools vendors several times. Cut from 1/16" uhmw sheet, no glue sticks to it. Use it to space out the binding, remove after the binding glue dries and glue the purfling in the slot. That way Herman gets to use the binding and purfling he has, just a bit differently than originally hoped.

Thanks Peter. Do you remember the vendor?
