Layered binding, what glue?

Hey Guys,
I am about to make binding with a black/white purfling to the bottom side.
What glue do you advise?, 'cause Titebond Original loosens while bending.
Epoxy? Titebond 3?
Thanks
Herman

I use titebond 3, as it is a bit more heat and moisture resistant.

Also I bend bindings in pairs taped together purfling side in, thus clamping the purflings onto the bindings. I just use three strips of tape the ends and the middle as it is a pain to get off.

FWIW, I've evolved my approach to attaching bindings and purflings. In the past, I used LMI Instrument Glue (somewhat like Titebond), sometimes gluing purfling to the binding before attachment and sometimes wrestling with 2 or 3 items that each seem to have their own ambitions. For my last 3 builds I've applied shellac, twice, to all binding channels and then taped both purflings and bindings into place without any adhesive -- but with significant space between strips of tape. After verifying a good fit, the next step is careful dispensing of thin CA in the spaces between the tape strips. A few minutes later I remove the tape and apply the CA over the entire length of the interface between the box and the binding/purfling. This process gives me confidence that the binding/purfling is tight against the box (especially in the waist) before any glue enters the scene. It's improved my results. YMMV.

I do it much like Hans does.

I have used Hans method gluing purflings between the bindings and the top or back but never against the sides. It is hard to bend a loose thin purfling on end. I thought Herman was talking about purflings between the bindings and the sides.
