Ok, I've seen opinions all over the place on what glue to use and the clamping time.
Latest I've heard is to use fish glue.
Any experiences with torr spruce and glues?

Re: Gluing bridge to torrefied spruce
I just used Titbound. Based on advise on forums I left the clamps on longer (overnight in my case).

Re: Gluing bridge to torrefied spruce
Yes original titebond, I also have used LMI Instrument glue. I stopped using torrefied spruce. No problem with it, I just never had the results that brought me back. I have hand selected most of my top wood from large stacks of tops at various conventions. with torrified I just had to trust the supplier. I find a big difference between the good and bad tops when hand selecting wood. Other than wanting to make a torrefied top guitar the tops I used would not have been the tops I would have chosen from my stack based on tap tones and perceived stiffness and mass.
Also be careful with the torrefied top it is brittle and will split like cedar if mishandled.

Re: Gluing bridge to torrefied spruce
I have a torrefied WRC top here that I've been thinking about using. I made 1 instrument with torr SS, it turned out ok. On another thread somewhere I had the results of a series of tests on torrefied spruce done by Brian Burns; it tested about in the middle of the untreated spruces he has used - no big improvement in other words. After I use this top I don't think I'll go torrefied again.

Re: Gluing bridge to torrefied spruce
Hey Dave,
I used torrified spruce on one of my baritones. Nasty brittle stuff. Does not permit waterbased glue to get into the wood. It stays on top like water on grease. Very curious. And mine discolored in the grain lines around the soundhole using clear epoxy.
I glued the guitar, including the bridge with fish glue. It has not fallen apart in the last 1 and a half year.
In general I do not fancy the torrified wood, although it sounded excellent.
Herman
BTW: fish glue needs far more clamping time than titebond. I let it sit overnight.
One pro for fish glue: when hard, it is clear as water. nice.

Good information, H. Thanks!
Two questions: did you use the FG at room temp, or warmed up? And do you like HHG?
