I'm in the midst of building an all-cherry guitar. So far, so good. When finish time arrives, does cherry benefit from pore filler? I've used z-poxy finishing resin to good effect on other projects, including the cherry necks on those. I'll probably not mess with success and use the epoxy on the neck. But the body, I have no experience with curly cherry.
Thanks!

Re: curly cherry pore filler
I have used it but, I know it is small pore wood. You may be able to fill with finish. Applying zpoxy if it is already part of your process will not hurt.

Peter, you should not need to pore fill cherry. It is like maple in that respect. When you start your finishing, spray your sealer, a couple of coats. Sand it back level and spray one more coat, then start your lacquer.....you will be good!

Sealer...rattle-can shellac? I've never used sealers: Bare wood, Z-poxy, lacquer, admire.
Suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

I would use a rattle can Vinyl Sealer on the wood then nitro. You can generally find it in the same brand as your rattle can nitro.
