Acoustic Guitar Construction

I just finished getting all the interior wood assembled and shaped, and the top is sitting on the bench. Not a fingerprint or glue smudge on the top, rosette leveled.

My question, in an attempt to learn and apply 'good practice': Is it appropriate to now give the top a rattle-can coat of shellac and maybe avoid contamination?

Yes Peter, good thought. It looks good and avoids dust to stick. It is part of my routine.
Leave the edges free, 'cause that could affect the glue joint. You can cover that area when the top is to the rim.

Thanks, Herman. Top is oversized, edge needs to be cut back to closer to finished size after the top is matched to the rim, so getting shellac on the rim is not a concern.
