Though I have quite a bit of woodworking experience, I am new to this activity, and so far I only made one guitar in a class with John Ressler. I am setting up my shop to make acoustic guitars. This is my open-front bending machine, to be used with silicone blanket heater. Yes, I have copied details from several other machines I see on the net.

That is as impressive as it is massive. What do you feel are the benefits of the open end design?

John, the open-end allows for much easier retrieval of the bent parts. Also as my threaded press gadget does not have a very long travel, it makes loading the parts also simpler.

Thanks for the explanation Pedro, it makes prefect sense. May build one myself.
