In this follow up book to "Classic Guitar Construction" Sloane provides a very sensible and very clever system for constructing a steel string guitar similar to a Martin "D" size -- he shows how to modify the design to make it a twelve string. The "L" hook assembly fixture mold is brilliant and has been copied by many. Also brilliant is his totally unique neck joint and rosette design -- this is a guy thinking outside of the box many years ago. In my view "must read, must have"

I just received a hardbound copy of a 1975 copyright first edition. I noticed that when I was searching for a copy some offerings mentioned a 1985 copyright date, but these were priced somewhere between 'not cheap' and 'stupendously expensive'. Paid only ten bucks for mine. Does anyone know whether the 1985 edition varies greatly from the first edition? If so, enough to suggest I ought to find a 1985 edition?
Thanks very much.

Makes little sense -- I believe the book can be purchased from LMII for $28. The older versions has no mention of Mike Doyle as co-author --- who ever he is?

Sure doesn't make sense, but that's what I saw on 'Bookfinder (dot) com'. I didn't think of going through the luthiers' materials vendors looking for the book. Saw the title, went to bookfinder, the database I have used for years to find books. LMI looks like one-stop shopping for guitarmaking books.
