Lowden style bridge

Hey Guys,

The guitar that is on the way now, will have a Lowden style bridge, with a split saddle and without pins. Like this original one:

Below the saddles , there is a slot about half deep the bridge's height.
How to make this? I'm thinking of routing it with a round top bit 1/3" wide.

Does someone had a better idea? chisel? rasping? sanding?

Thanks, Herman
BTW, It is Wengé, so splintery

Ok Ken, thanks. That would be an Ovation style solution. It is easier to make. And for sure it is an option for me.
But what if I still would like to make it like the Lowden thing?

not really

For a one off just use a fret saw, and chisel

He, that is funny. I did not know Ovation uses a metal strip inside the bridge.
