Want to build a 1934 Martin 0-17. Can't find plans or molds.

I really want to build an all mahogany 1934 style Martin 0-17 but can't find any plans, templates, or molds. From what I understand, this was their standard size guitar before they started adding all the "0's" and increasing the size. Did this size guitar just disappear, or did they rename it or what?

My understanding is that the 0 size is still made; it was among the larger of the guitars Martin made when it first came out. The specs are online in a number of places, none of which I can remember at the moment.

The "0" is almost the same size as the "00" ----- .5 inch shorter .625 inch less at the lower bout. Keep in mind that those small guitar designs were enlarged so they would "sound better" -- food for thought.

The Martin O is still around. Sometimes it is called a parlor. I made a few of them. I personally like the sound. Some of the increase in size over the years was for more volume. But if you are sitting on a couch in a living room an O is a good guitar to play (size and sound wise).

Here is a 00, It has an arm bevel so the top is really more like the size of an 0. I braced it like a vintage Martin single 0

The guitar in this video is pretty much what I'm after. Skip to 9:15 in the video to hear about the guitar.

FWIW, these are the dimensions I have for this sized Martin guitar:

Total length: 38 3/8
Body length: 18 3/8
Width, Upper bout: 10
Width, lower bout: 13 1/2
Depth, Upper bout: 4 1/4
FB width, nut: 1 11/16 (but I have seen this listed as both 1 23/32 & 1 3/4)
FB width, 12th fret: 2 1/8
Sound hole: 3 5/8
String spacing: 2 5/16
Scale length: 24.84 (commonly refereed to as 24.9)

Here's a useful page as well. The menu on the left has one entry 'body shapes' where you can choose up to 3 shapes to compare and it will show the outlines overlaid; gives a nice perspective.
