Hello to everyone... Things have changed a lot in my life since my last post. We have completed our move from Colorado to Copperas Cove Texas. Not sure what to expect as far as weather is concerned, but I think high humidity will prevail in the summer months for sure. My "Work space" has been reduced from 12X16 to 9.5 X 10.5...VERY tough job trying to figure out how to best use this space. I know it's small but I've read bits and pieces of others using small spaces but no floor plans or equipt. lists.
I currently have a small table saw that serves my needs, an up-right 1" 11 speed drill press, a nice 12" band saw that seems to work well, a 6" belt and disc sander, a HF spindle sander...a 6HP vacuum and collector...a three tier tool box for the hand tools and numinous forms, jigs and templates.... a 6' bench with a vice...and a tool grinder. I built a thickness sander to attach to the top of my table saw...and a 3 HP air compressor.
Any suggestions on how to best utilize this space and these tools? anything here I REALLY don't need in your opinion ? Anything I need to add?
Appreciate ANY input anyone my have...I won't get my things out of storage and in the space for about a month yet...but trying to plan ahead before escrow closes.
In the meantime... Thanks and Howdy From Texas! :)
Ray

Glad to hear you are out and about again.

Sometimes it works out best if the primary work bench is in the middle of the shop rather than against a wall.

Welcome back Ray. My space is about 6.5' X 14'. Very crowded. I'll shoot some pictures of how I have it layed out and get back to you. It's all about being efficient. I don't have an air compressor but have most of the rest that you have.

Ray good to see your post. I second Ken's suggestion of a bench is the center. Also facing the same problem I gave up the table saw in my shop and use the band saw or hand saws.

Good to hear from you Ray!!

BTW - a good quality jigsaw, using a guide, can cut a line as straight as a table saw and saves a lot of space. Google 'best jigsaws' for some reviews.

Thanks to all for your very warm welcome and thanks for your ideas! Yes, Dave.... I agree with the jigsaw also...I have a new Bosh and like it a lot...I had my bench in the center of my last shop Ken, and all in all it worked out well...but I may have to cut it down for this space...but I liked being able to walk and work all around the bench for sure.
Thanks John L. John J. will be looking forward to seeing the pics...no hurry can't really do anything till escrow closes except plan...but then that cam be fun too! :)
You guy's are tops! Going to take some time for me to catch up...but here I'll be!! Bless you all!!
