Anybody like those "V" shaped neck? I don't get it very uncomfortable to me, are they suited to a certainly style of play?

I like the older martin v - for hooking that thumb up to fret the bass strings, it works very well for me. It might be more of a modified v, but definitely a v.

In my second kit from Martin there was a "Golden Era"- neck. It had this V-shaped profile. The customer likes it. I hated it.
If you hold your guitar as Bruce Springsteen, you might like it.
Not even 2 cts

I have heard of and seen pictures of V necks where the V is not centered on the neck. I have not played one but it looked interesting. I forget which side it was favoring either the bass or treble.

I got to thinking about this a little -- seems I've seen plenty of old Martins with that shape. I wonder if its was a construction issue back in the day? Since Martin insisted on using the "T" bar and "Square" tube truss rods until relatively recent times it may be that the added thickness -- (think beam affect like in tall braces) was thought to make for a more trouble free neck.

That's the ticket!
