for fret markers.
I forgot, and don't seem to be able to find it in Ken's online instructions. But I know it is there.

There are various sizes, 5mm, 6mm, 1/4". Measure with calipers and match to the bit size.

There's drill bits and there's drill bits. I've never drilled the face of a fretboard for dots, so my comments are theoretical. But if I was doing it, I'd test the drill bit I intended to use on a piece of scrap wood first. Some drill bits create rough edges in wood, others leave really smooth holes. Drill bits have various differences, size being just one of many. And I'd be using a drill press.

As Tim mentioned its best to always check the material being used --- 6 mm and 1/4' are common. But without measuring you can't be certain what you have, unfortunately they are sold interchangeably. I like the brad point drill bits for dots.
